Wedding Video - The Essentials of Planning a Great Event

It's abundantly evident from the following video by Virginia photographer, videographer Josh Gooden that he covered a wonderful event. First off, Gooden's eye for framing, pacing, composition, and storytelling produced a lovely wedding video keepsake that Sara and George, the happy couple, will cherish for a lifetime. Second, the event is at a spectacular natural setting, River Farm, and between breaktaking wild flowers and lovely event spaces, it was an excellent venue choice. Earlier in the video, we see beautiful wedding invitations and wedding printing, there are table settings for the reception that tie in the wildflower theme from the outdoors ceremony, the venue is decorated beautifully, the processional flowers are delightful, the food is presented in a chic way - in short, the key elements that a good wedding planner should take care of are evident in this particular wedding.

When Love Knots Are Tied in Fall Colors

I remember hating one of my former college roommates for creating a destination wedding in the Middle of Nowhere, Iowa - complete with gravel roads and miles without a gas station - during the dead of winter one early February weekend. A blizzard snowed in the entire wedding party after the church service, we were bored out of our skulls being snowed in for two days, and moods got a little ugly.

June is definitely the most popular month for weddings (10.8% of all weddings), and then August (10.2%) - but September (9.6%) and October (9.4%) are the next most popular wedding months, and the rest of autumn sees brisk activity in the wedding bells department (November at 7.4% and December at 7.8%).

And with an average of 6,200 weddings a day in the United States, you're going to be busy almost any time of year if you're a wedding and event planner.

Rusted love: Invitations from Twig & Fig

It's not news that technology has leveled many industries in recent years, and stationery is not exempt. Email has dramatically decreased postal service and has decimated the once de rigueur practice of sending personal notes on personal stationery.

Despite these trends, however, wedding invitations remain squarely in the physical realm. These days couples have endless invitation options, from elegant letterpress to laser-cut paper and etched lucite.

We have seen a lot of cool invitations but we truly drooled at the rust and wood offerings from couture paper studio Twig & Fig of Berkeley, CA. Rust and wood? Seriously? Yes, rust and wood - shades of brown, orange, and burgundy; perfect for Fall.

Lovely lace stationery by Vera Wang

Flipping through a bridal magazine the other day, we were stopped dead by an ad for Vera Wang's exquisite lace wedding stationery. These laser-cut, embossed invitation pieces are both delicate and dramatic - and what is more bridal than that?

Swoon with us over these cards, inspired by Vera's dresses and accessories. The cream and white Alencon lace pieces mimic, in paper, a French needle technique in use since the 16th century and famous for its level of craft and preciousness.
