Jewelry Inspiration: Fresh Take on Facets

The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite, metal, and even stone. Today's featured jewelry shows off creative do-it-yourself facet designs for rings (which you could also apply to other pieces).

These rings are so cool, they blow their own socks off.

Or their own facets off, anyway. For these and many more interesting series, check out Germany's Ariane Ernst.

Jewelry Inspiration: Collection with Roots in India

The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite, metal, and even stone. Today's featured jewelry draws from collections steeped with references to India.

Let's talk about the elephant in the (tea-)room. Haati Chai, Bengali for "elephant and tea" according to L.A. designer Stella Simona, offers a cool collection which draws on her Indian roots.

Jewelry Inspiration: Here's Looking at You, Kid

The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite, metal, and even stone. Alice Matsumoto from Vancouver, BC, Canada has a ring shop and has kindly given us permission to inspire our jewelry lovers at Sheffield with her discoveries. In this post, Alice focuses on some eerie rings that watch you.

There's something vaguely, disconcertingly alien—sentient, even—about these "hose rings" from Germany's Höllwerk (Astrid Zipp & Christine Maxand). It's like they're looking at me! I, for one, welcome our new ring-shaped overlords.

Jewelry Designers Should Be Avid Jewelry Collectors

The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite, metal, and even stone. Alice Matsumoto from Vancouver, BC, Canada has a ring shop and has kindly given us permission to inspire our jewelry lovers at Sheffield with her discoveries. But unlike past posts, I wanted to share some of the rings in her own personal collection. She ingeniously enables people to click on a color to see her sorted-by-color ring collection, and they've certainly helped to inspire her own jewelry designs. Here are a few colors in her amazing ring collection.

I'm green with envy over Alice's collection of green rings.

Alice has only taken 333 photos of rings in her collection - but she has countless more to take!

Some of Alice's own ring designs - diverse, unique, playful.

    Jewelry Inspiration: Nature Calls

The Carrotbox is a site dedicated to all those wonderful rings made of glass, lucite, resin, plastic, jade, wood, bakelite, metal, and even stone. Alice Matsumoto from Vancouver, BC, Canada has a ring shop and has kindly given us permission to inspire our jewelry lovers at Sheffield with her discoveries. In this post, Alice focuses on rings inspired by nature.

These shapes aren't just inspired by nature — they're colored by nature, too, in the form of dyed paper. Rings by Greek jeweler Silina Pandelidou.
