Jewelry Designs Look Much Better Online When They Spin

Look at the fantastic GIF or animated image I found on the Klimt02 international jewelry design website! An animated product that spins to show all angles of a jewelry piece will show off your work to maximum effect, as Australian jewelry designer Julia deVille illustrates with the spin view of her Pave Rook necklace. Here's a video I found showing many other product "spins" to give you ideas of how you can show off your work better on your website, blog, or Etsy store.

The video will steer you to the Swiftspin360 website, and I'd like to direct you to their 7 Steps to Creating a 360 Product Spin. Join the website in order to freely access their articles and downloads. While the pitch is to photographers, if you're a jewelry designer with a camera, we'd like you and our jewelry design students to experiment with creating some beautiful product spins of your special work!

DIY Wedding Project: Sparkling Glitter Heels

Okay. I'm a guy. And this is definitely not a "guy" kind of post, in any way, shape, or form! But I write all the time about weddings, and when I saw this 100 Layer Cake do-it-yourself project, I thought that all of our wedding and event planning students will want to help their cllients - or themselves - to this easy and fun idea. So not a guy kind of project, but guys will love the results.

With The Great Gatsby hitting theaters, the sparkle and glam of the Roaring 20s is defnitely in vogue, and you can dress up a ho-hum pair of pumps with easy-to-apply glitter. By the way, the product they recommend using is called Mod Podge (click on the link for more information. Watch this short DIY video for a step-by-step look at making your own sparkling glitter shoes.

My Favorite Bold Italian Furniture Designs

    Aster Papposus sofa from EDRA

There is no greater sin in interior design than blandness. Interiors should make solid statements, and they could be far-ranging - comfort, luxury, sensuality, rustic, quaint - but if an interior isn't communicating some kind of distinct message, or if it's too shy and retiring, why bother? (And I'm addressing both homeowners and interior designers here.)

Rift bar stools by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso

In our school's Complete Course in Interior Design, we talk a lot about making sure furniture is in scale with the rest of the room, and we talk about all of the elements coming together in harmony.

Baku bed with stunning leather headboard and footboard from Promemoria

Yet sometimes it's important to include some strong statement pieces of furniture that help an interior "jump the tracks" and demand attention.

Accurate street and building details in the Baghdad Dining Table (above) and Baghdad Coffee Table (below) designed by Ezri Tarazi for EDRA

I enjoy unusual design, comfort, striking colorways, attention to detail, and a sense of humor when I'm looking at favorite designs.

Outlandish Meryl revolving bookcase features shelving space, LED lighting, amp and hi-fi system, and a wine cellar - from Promemoria

And lately, I've been finding what I'm looking for from several Italian companies who specialize in producing great statement pieces.

Witch chair by Tord Boontje for Moroso

Click on each photo for more product information, and I hope you give extra thought about shaking up an interior with a jolt of freshness.

Like the "Princess and the Pea," the Principessa daybed from Moroso boasts a pile of colorful "mattresses"

Grooms and Groomsmen: Hot Wedding Wear Trends

Let's take note of some grooms and groomsmen attire trends that we're really loving. First - in the photo above and just directly below - I'm loving the color burst in the shirt, the polka-dot handkerchief square, the colorful bow tie, mad-patterned socks, and slender-cut contemporary suit. Click on each photo to see more images from these weddings.

Look at the next two sets of photos (see below), and you'll see the bow tie trend continue, topped off with suspenders, a Gatsby-like white ensemble, and black suspenders with natty black casual shoes.
