Wedding Favorites: I Love the Flower Girls

Only a scrooge or a grinch wouldn't go, "Awwww!" at the sight of these photos of my favorite wedding princesses: the flower girls. In any wedding ceremony, one or more flower girls add a touch of levity to what can otherwise be a very formal ceremony. (We're not counting the parents of the flower girls; they're crossing their fingers that their little ones will carry out their job without tears, outbursts, or misbehavior - all of which greatly amuse wedding guests, of course.) Click on each photograph to see more about the wedding, as well as the photography credits (great job, photographers!).

(I'm cheating here. The cutie on the left is an official bridesmaid!)

I tend to agree - flower girls, page boys, children in general at a wedding bring a life and vitality to the proceedings if, of course, they're well behaved and sometimes, even, when they're not!
Very lovely photos and I do agree that flower girls give a nice touch to the ceremony
Hi "Jay", all the pictures of the cute little girls are so beautiful. I am sure that the photographer would be a professional one because only a professional can click such beautiful photos.

Couldn't agree more about flower girls. Especially at the events that tend to be very formal (well, not saying static) I've seen they bring a big extra. Sometimes a good lough is enough to cancel before ceremony stress and bring relaxing atmosphere. Not say how good is that for photographers. Usually the best photos we get are children photos.
In Dubrovnik, Croatia where I plan and coordinate destination weddings many times flower girls not necessarily carry baskets with petals or small bouquets but also announcement banners, balloons or single stemmed flowers.

Traditionally, the flower girls walk ahead of the bride and groom and drop flower petals—a symbol of new beginnings—on the floor for them to walk on. Flower girl dresses of old had a layer of netting over the skirt which was filled with flower petals. That tradition isn’t used much these days and now it’s enough to have the flower girls dressed in the same theme or color and in a similar style as the bridesmaids—and to look as cute as possible.

When my husband and i got married, first thing that i tried to find is the flower girls.I think they are one of the highlights of the wedding ceremony, specially when they walked through that isle and tried to win the audience with their cuteness and sweet smile. Also when its time to throw the confetis in the sky,
Their dresses and headbands are too cute! So adorable!
