5 Great Love Feasts - Our Favorite Wedding Spreads

If you're into "eye candy" and out-of-this-world tastes, a wonderful wedding food presentation is difficult to beat. We love the way 100 Layer Cake - one of our favorite wedding blogs - covers a variety of top weddings. They certain give us great ideas for the events we're either going to plan for other happy couples or planning for our own walk-down-the-aisle events.

#1 - Above and below, a winter wedding scene in rustic Prince Edward Island, Canada, brings on visions of heart-shaped marshmallows floating in hot chocolate, divine treats, and elegant, tailored cakes.

 

#2 - *Magical* is the only way to describe the next wedding, in an elaborate treehouse setting in a California forest - even with a musical babbly brook flowing nearby. An oversized mosquito netting protects the woodland treats, and a formal forest reception with to-die-for desserts couldn't be more amazing.

#3 - This Texas wedding adjourned to a local casual dining restaurant, with hearty favorites like sliced steak and cheesy grilled corn on the cob. The bride and groom brilliantly reused the wedding bouquets to decorate the sweets table/dessert bar; the succulents and flowers are a simply beautiful counterpoint to the down-home food.

 #4 - This wedding was so relaxed! A southern celebration with a county fair theme, and the cake assortment ... "took the cake" and went beautifully with BBQ, soda pop, and popcorn - even a ferris wheel, giving everyone in the wedding party a festive twirl. 

#5 - Last but not least, this Chicago based wedding featured sweet fairtale accents in an urban theme. The cake and sweets table at the reception featured a towering cake, whimsical cake toppers, and miniature pennants.

These pictures are amazing. As an aspiring wedding photographer, I always am looking for some inspiration. I've always wondered why the new trend in weddings is to desaturate the pictures though, so that they appear less vibrant than normal. I'm not sure I like that.

I've been filming weddings for 20 years now, and it seems that these sweet tables are getting more popular. Especially in the last couple of years. Chocolate fountains seem to be fading, but the sweet table is as popular as ever! And cupcakes seem to be more popular than wedding cakes!
