Trend Alert: Our Favorite Fairy Tale Wedding Dresses

Joan - wedding gown by Sophia Tolli
Popular movies and TV shows have been refocusing the public's attention on fairy tales (two major Snow White motion pictures, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, Red Riding Hood, and so on. Even Time magazine has noted the trend in their article Why Does Pop Culture Love Fairy Tales Again? The fairy tale craze has hit the wedding planning arena, too. Once Upon a Time wardrobe designer Eduardo Castro has gotten countless requests to design wedding gowns in a fairy tale style since his series debuted. Here are some of our favorite dresses and designers who are offering modern twists on the classic princess dress silhouette, like the Joan dress by British designer Sophia Tolli (top photo); here's the gown description.
Exquisite detailing and effortless glamour is all yours in this superbly sculpted mermaid in Paris satin, Joan. Lace appliqués frame the subtly scooped neckline and dropped hipline, which also features a dramatic sculptural pick-up detail. A flourish of misty tulle coupled with beautiful scalloped lace hem creates true opulence. Joan also offers a corset back and chapel length train.
Andrea - wedding gown by Sophia Tolli
Ready for 'happily ever after,' dream-worthy gown Andrea (above) offers a sweetheart neckline highlighted with hand-beaded crystal lace appliqués. Beautiful silk Dupioni asymmetrical draping adorns the bodice and spills into the sweeping skirt of fantasy organza in this stunning ball gown silhouette. Striking rosettes accentuate the bustling pick-ups in the skirt and chapel length train. Andrea also features a functional corset back and removable straps.

100 Layer Cake: Let's Go to a Speakeasy Theme Wedding

In case the thought has crossed your mind, the answer is yes. You can plan a stunning wedding in NYC while living in London. You’d need a fab planner & stylist like Jillian Event Design as your go-to-execute-the-wedding-of-my-dreams gal, along with the best talents in NYC, but it can be done.

While this wedding didn’t have a sit down dinner, the Getaway Car and the Rat Pack cocktails + mouth-watering raw bar is warning enough that this party was a success. It was romantic, loungey, and had just the right amount of reds and warm indoor feeling perfect to share before the recent holiday weekend. All this without mentioning the signage. Fans of calligraphy and type, this wedding is to lust over!
Ladies, don’t ever miss a sample sale. That’s how Shannon found her Alice Temperley dream dress. Could it be any more perfect for a speakeasy themed wedding?
The best looking (little) men at the wedding, hands down, their two twin boys.

    Wedding dresses: uniquely expensive

Before Kim Kardashian got married last week, fashion and celebrity rags were abuzz about the "reveal" of her wedding dress. In fact, it turned out that she had three wedding dresses that she wore throughout the evening, all designed by "family friend" and bridal design megastar Vera Wang. Estimated cost - well, MSRP since Kardashian surely did not pay for them - for these gowns? Around $135,000 - $150,000 each.
