Book Contest: Win the Curtain Bible

Don't know what to do with your windows?  Do they pose problems in size or proportion?  Or are you just bored with the same old window treatment?  Katrin Cargill will offer you new and wonderful solutions in her book, the Curtain Bible.  She'll show you how to make roman shades, valances, sliding panels and more.  Cargill also demonstrates how to add special touches to ordinary curtains like scallops, pleats and fringes. She also provides a list of suppliers for your own window treatment projects.

My favourite window treatment is the Roman shades because of their clean, simple lines. They are very versatile in colors/prints. Not only that, these shades are also very versatile and give good coverage of your widows from the sun. Since they are easy to maneuver, you can either have some sunlight, no sunlight or lots of sunlight in your room without having to afford style over function. You get both! That is why my favorite window treatment is Roman shades.

I love sheer curtains, because they give me enough privacy, and I still get the sunlight.

My favourite window treatment is Classic Bamboo Roman Shades. Roman shades can add simple style and subtle color to any room.

Add me to the Roman shades pile! I've been doing an almost no sew version with just looped top and big cord or ribbon tied vertically to hold it at the desired height. They lose some of the easy repositioning of their corded cousins but you now have window treatments you can change with the season, wash easily at home, and make for $30 or $40 instead of the usual budget of a couple hundred (or thousand) dollars for custom.

I love all types of drapery! As a matter of fact I do custom drapes for myself and for several of my friends, and a few clients. I firmly believe that drapes are like icing on a cake. My favorite drapes are panels. I like simplicity and straight lines and I think that sometimes after adding all the accessories and various pieces of furnitures and the various colors and patterns...a long, flowing, simple panel of fabric just seals the deal.

My choice would be the promotion of lined drapes which provide energy efficiency in all seasons summer and winter and with the escalating power cost of energy in homes these will save you dollars by keeping your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The drapes also provide a noise absorption and a greater resale value on your home if selling. Drapes provide a framework in a room and may enhance the existing ambience of a room.
The ease of use add to their value and the drapes may provide a contrast for the room or support the existing decor. The flexibility of drapes and their use cannot be found in any other window treatment. Drapes can be extravagant or simple depending on the style you choose but the choices are numerous which allows you to design to any clients style and decor.

I tend to migrate more towards drapery. I think they have the most versatility in that you can choose different patterns/colors, textures/fabrics, heat/sound/sunlight reducing, etc. They can either transform a room and bring that pop you need in a neutral space, or it could compliment any decor you already have in your home. It can change the aesthetic of a room entirely with the right drapery.
