It is time to find my living room. It needs paint, sparkle, glass doors, new mantle, hardwood floor redone, new Cornus board, window coverings, and then a new area rug and living room furniture. Big job... Money is real tight so this may take time to create. I have lived here 16 years and I have slowly added things and took things away that did not work. It will be nice to have a complete room all at once, so I'm excited to begin its design and completion.

We have a bedroom downstairs that could use a serious crash-course/refresher in design. It just needs a little life and I'm needing some inspiration....It would be awesome to be able to make it look new and fun again...

I have for several months been striving to "redo" my room. By putting redo in quotes, I mean that my room never genuinely felt like a room. It was a storage chamber. (Haha) Even though there were quite a few great furniture pieces (heirloom rocking chair, old vanity, child's school desk with peeling paint), the room is not large enough to accommodate the amount of potential items I had. I also needed room for my sister Lillian's crib. When my momma and I finally went to IKEA, things started to happen. I painted the walls bright white (in matte), like the color of our baseboards. In addition, I gave the walls some 12 in.-wide vertical stripes. These were the same shade and hue as the matte, except they were high-gloss. Fortunately, this risky design (for me) turned out beautifully. Momma taught me how, and I was able to do the painting work in its entirety.
Once that was done, I set up my new bed (a white, wrought iron full-size deal) and put the curtains up. I now have a yellow and white stripey comforter cover and some fun pillows on the bed (all IKEA). There is a portion of the wall, above the bed, that I have painted with chalkboard paint. I wish to frame that with molding. What I have left is for white, glossy shelves to cover one of the walls. I am excitedly waiting for the room to reach completion.

We have a house in the country to restore, is very old and all ceilings with wooden beams and floor ceramic material.
We change windows and doors with new electrical installations.
The idea is to get a modern mix of contemporary and vintage.
I hope to get lucky.
Thanks and regards.

Our laundry room is the armpit of our house. It has torn linoleum, absolutely no storage, the ceiling is flaking off, the walls are builder's boring white, and the light is a standard boob light. My son told me recently it was his least favorite room in the house. Can't imagine why? ;) I'd love to win the book for some design inspiration.

I don't think there is anyone out there that doesn't have a room that needs a make over. This book sound like what everyone needs for a little design inspiration.
