Summer Wedding Special: Black and White Bridesmaids Dresses

If you're thinking of great wedding and event planning inspiration for the coming summer season, look no further than 100 Layer Cake - one of our favorite wedding and event blogs. They cover a variety of weddings and feature top wedding vendors, from the best photographers to the best florists. The folks at "the Cake" are serious about showing us the latest trends, and here they're telling us all about black-and-white bridesmaids dresses.

Can we all agree that black & white will never go out of style? Polka dots, stripes, chevron … it works every time. Paired with neon, it’s spunky, next to bright florals it’s fun, on a pair of peep toe heels it’s sexy, standing to the right and left of you in your wedding dress it’s modern and chic. We’re thinking it could be a great look for all you summertime brides. Not convinced? Check out some fun ways to mix in a little b & w dress for your bridesmaids! We’re kind of obsessed. Once we started looking for one dress, we found all of these cuties.

I run www.littlethingsfavors.com a major wedding website and have found many couples buying black and white items and zebra prints. While the zebra prints may be trendy, I see them more as bridal shower and girls night out, than for a classy upscale wedding. While many of the pictures above show really pretty dresses, some like #2 are awful (it looks like she is wearing a bra! - would you want that in your wedding pictures?!?) while some like #15 look like they are indeed meant for a wedding. You can't go wrong with your bridesmaids in simple black dresses - with the accent of white added. It is timeless, classic and chic. For my wedding in 2003 I had my bridesmaids in simple black cocktail dresses.
