Inspiring Wire Work
WARNING: Wire wrapping can become an infectious hobby. That is, once you get past the frustration of realizing it's not as easy as it looks. I give huge credit to these artists who have successfully and skillfully perfected these small pieces of art.
These wire wrapped gemstone earrings by NuNu Designs had me wanting to sit down and get to work.
Dana Kellin may just be the reigning queen of wire wrapping. Whether she's wrapping stones or just weaving solid wire, her work is absolutely perfect.
These simple yet complex pink crochet earrings were found on Pinterest, the designer is unknown. I had not even thought of crocheting with wire like this before seeing these. I don't know if I will be attempting something like this anytime soon, or ever actually, but I do like to admire them.
This clean and beautifully simple bangle is more my speed right now. However, I am sure this too will be more difficult than it looks.
Hopefully these designs will have you thinking about wire wrapping in a whole new light; they certainly pushed me to think beyond my basic knowledge of wire wrapping. There are many directions wire wrapping can take you. Of course this will lead to the need for different sizes and colors of wire, types of beads... hence the warning.
