Inspiring Wire Work

(NuNu Designs marquis wire wrapped earrings)

WARNING: Wire wrapping can become an infectious hobby. That is, once you get past the frustration of realizing it's not as easy as it looks. I give huge credit to these artists who have successfully and skillfully perfected these small pieces of art.

My introduction to wire wrapping came when attempting to make my first wire wrapped ring. The desire to move on to other wire wrapped projects had been sparked, but what to create next? I was hesitant to start on anything without a plan of action, so I began my search for wire wrapped jewelry images. I was so inspired by what I found that I have to share these spectacular pieces with you.

These wire wrapped gemstone earrings by NuNu Designs had me wanting to sit down and get to work.

(Sekhmet cuff by Keren Jewelry)

These metal cuffs are so great to look at. One is crocheted with wire, the other is a combination of glass beads and crisscrossed wire. Not sure which I love more.

(Dana Kellin Berry Mix earrings)

Dana Kellin may just be the reigning queen of wire wrapping. Whether she's wrapping stones or just weaving solid wire, her work is absolutely perfect.

(Gold wire earrings Dana Kellin. Pink earrings unknown, repinned from Pinterest.)

These simple yet complex pink crochet earrings were found on Pinterest, the designer is unknown. I had not even thought of crocheting with wire like this before seeing these. I don't know if I will be attempting something like this anytime soon, or ever actually, but I do like to admire them.

(bangle by Saressa Designs)

This clean and beautifully simple bangle is more my speed right now. However, I am sure this too will be more difficult than it looks.

 (River Song jewelry)

Hopefully these designs will have you thinking about wire wrapping in a whole new light; they certainly pushed me to think beyond my basic knowledge of wire wrapping. There are many directions wire wrapping can take you. Of course this will lead to the need for different sizes and colors of wire, types of beads... hence the warning.
