Brooklyn Flea: A Feast for the Senses
A weekend visit to Brooklyn Flea in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY unearthed a mecca of sensory bliss, from tasty nibbles and up-cycled furniture to limited edition prints and hand-stitched quilts from India. And, yes, you can still find an unlimited assortment of antiques and items which could easily be made into your next piece of jewelry!
Meandering through the rows of stalls I had to stop and ogle the oh-so-summery photo collages of John Murphy. Murphy finds 19th century etchings and layers them with a multitude of pop-colored flowers, expertly photographed. The austere and aloof looking hippos, ostriches, deer and elephants creates the perfect foil for his richly luxe flora to curiously satisfying effect.

Blueberry-mint and ginger-rhubarb popsicles will keep you cool while you peruse the collection of stalls thanks to People's Pops. Getting hungry? Have a juicy pork sandwich from Porchetta or a queso and chili-covered ear of corn fresh off the grill and skewered for easy devouring while wandering... Plus many, many more gourmet finds.
Now if you happen to be looking for furniture you've come to the right place. I was particularly struck by the re-worked finds. A stand out example of which is Totally Bruce, run by a down-to-earth guy named Chris. Totally Bruce offers up revisionist history. For one table, Chris took 19th century steel legs, originally covered in the ugliest of matte grey paint, and unearthed their beauty. Stripped of their ugly concealments, the steel legs were topped with slabs of natural wood - creating the most elegant of rustic tables. Contact them directly for customizations and you can end up with the exact table you desire!
If you tire of looking at wares and indulging in eats, then simply settle your rump on the green, green grass of the new and beautifully developed Williamsburg Pier and East River State Park. Located right on the Williamsburg bank of the East River, the Brooklyn Flea is the perfect event for a lazy weekend.
The best part? You might possibly come away with some fantastic things you could make into jewelry....

He's a talented guy and what interesting day you had. Thanks for the link to the gallery!
They are all pretty much the same. Snyder is substance-free, so it’s more likely to be void of “messes.”
Wow and wow! Thank you! I always wished to write in my site something like that.
