mood board: Scandinavian Style

Scandinavian furniture has seen a strong resurgence in the past decade.  Its simplicity and timelessness attracts many admirers around the world.  There are different periods of Scandinavian furniture of course, and here, for this month’s Mood Board, we will visit the early Scandinavian period from late 18th century to the early 19th century.

mood board: Mid-century Style

Mid-century style is back in full force! If pop culture is an indicator of the times, then television shows such as Mad Men is driving the the trend back to the safety and innocence of the mid-century era.  Some might argue it never really went away, especially for those who inherited their parents’ slowly fading living room set from the 1950s.

Our first mood board is the Seaside Style - which I chose to be an elegant, sophisticated interpretation of the vacation home genre.

mood board: Asian-inspired

As a designer, one of the questions that I’m frequently asked by potential clients and students alike is what style should I decorate my home in? Or, what style is this? Many times they have some idea but it’s usually hazy and confused. On our Mood Board series, we’ll try to take the mystery out of the multitudes of styles by showing off furniture, lighting and accessories that best reflect the essence of each style and finally answer the age-old question.

Our first stop on our global tour features Asian-inspired styles, all very popular choices for many a home. My selections for the Asian Modern style include an elegant mix of recent furniture as well as mid-century pieces, all pictured above.
