Give Yourself an Early Holiday Gift - Your Own Design Blog

Are you interested in studying - or are you already involved in - a design-related profession like the ones we cover at the Sheffield School? If you're into jewelry design, interior design, feng shui, or wedding and event planning, you'll need a blog.

And here's why you should have a blog:

  • It’s the simplest way to create searchable, shareable content that will help you get noticed
  • It’s a great way to showcase your work
  • It’s a marketing tool that allows you to be personable and show people who you are
  • It’s a way to connect with past, present, and future clients online
  • It’s a great way to connect your various social media profiles with your business

A blog will do more for your online presence. In today’s world, designers - and we're talking everyone in the design profession - are under more pressure to market themselves and stand out from the crowd. But at the same time, there are more opportunities out there that allow you to do just that. Blogging is one of those opportunities.

Heaven Scent

When we're thinking about interior design, we think of color, light, texture---but only rarely do we consider the senses of smell and sound. That may be about to change, with the launch this week of the Center of Olfactory Art at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.

"At MAD, we are always looking to push boundaries and question the hierarchies in art by exploring the materials and processes behind groundbreaking work,” said Holly Hotchner, the museum’s Nanette L. Laitman Director. “There has not been the exploration or recognition of olfactory art as there has been of art that stimulates the other four senses. In plain language, this is a game changer.”

The first exhibition of perfume as an art form will be at the museum next November, but until then, the MAD Museum offers an extensive slate of shows to delight your other senses.
